Bing and Microsoft are launching a new edition of the Translator App for the Windows Phone. Over the last several years, outstanding scientists both at Microsoft research laboratories and all over the world have been working on the problem of language translation, the results of which you enjoy today on the web. Now you can take that experience with you as you travel across the planet with the new translator app for the Windows phone.

Simply Point, Scan And Translate Using The Translator App

With the Translator App for Windows Phone you can now convert languages by simply pointing the camera at the text. From street signs and images to daily activities as well as eating place choices translation is now easier than ever before because all you have to do is point and scan. The translator app provides a view that overlays the original language in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Chinese.

If you do not an have internet connection simply download the language pack you need before you are going offline and the Translator App is efficient off-line as well. The compacted translator app was designed using the same technological innovation that powers the Bing search engine translation functions that you see on the web.

The Translator App also allows immediate translations using the key pad. When online, the supported languages for translation increase to over 30 languages. For several of the languages you can also play-back the verbal edition of the converted phrase. This is particularly useful for languages that are in a script form that you cannot read.

Do you want to have a conversation with a local person? With the voice translation ability on the translator app you can communicate in English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. Once in the language mode you require and connected online, you simply tap the icon, speak and tap to translate. You can also pin the translator app itself to the home screen to open up a useful “live tile”, assisting you to produce a translation you require. Data is bringing out several themes not to be overlooked as the marketplace matures. The industry must give consumers not just physical control of their personal data, but economic control as well. A new palette of creative opportunity is emerging. This year’s passionate debate at the Leadership Meeting centered on the pressing issue of “The People vs Data”.

“Mobile, he emphasized, is where much of this progress would be focused”. Eric Schmidt, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Google told the Leadership Meeting, engaged the imagination and took the audience into a not too distant future where computers would do what they do best and help people do what they do best. Behind these services, he said, would be a flourishing display advertising business that he estimated would be a $200-billion dollar marketplace. The Keynote Speaker at the Leadership Meeting, By this sentiment he meant technology would help people remember things, would filter out the overload of information, would help people get where they’re going and do what they want to do no matter young or old, poor or wealthy, as long as they have access to a device, they would have information and tools to make their lives easier and more satisfying.

Why Does The IAB Hold An Annual Leadership Meeting ?

On behalf of its members, the IAB Leadership Meeting is dedicated to the growth of the interactive advertising marketplace, of interactive’s share of total marketing spend, and of its members’ share of total marketing spend.

Founded in 1996, the IAB is headquartered in New York City with a Public Policy office in Washington. The IAB educates marketers, agencies, media companies and the wider business community about the value of interactive advertising. The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) is comprised of more than 460 leading media and technology companies who are responsible for selling 86% of online advertising in the United States and holds an Annual Leadership Meeting. Working with its member companies, the IAB evaluates and recommends standards and practices and fields critical research on interactive advertising.

Bing Mobile Excitement Continues For Motorcycle Riders

The excitement continues with the launch of updates to the Bing for Mobile iPhone and Android Apps that you can use on your next Motorcycle ride. Streamline how you discover relevant local information, allowing you to do more while on the go. Let’s look at the new features for the Bing for Mobile iPhone App.

The homepage has received a facelift with an enriched layout and design for easier navigation and feature discoverability when you are out riding your motorcycle.

Autosuggest got a boost, allowing you to refine searches on the fly. With a tap of the finger, you can easily find the perfect restaurant with the cuisine, price, location and atmosphere you want after a hard day out motorcycle riding.

Once you’ve decided where you want to go, finalize plans by reserving a table on OpenTable or order takeout from Grubhub without leaving the Bing Mobile app.

Familiarize yourself with a location before you go out on the road with your motorcycle, using Bing Streetside. Streetside, a new mobile mapping feature, provides a multi-street level panorama of a location so you can take a virtual walk through the streets with a view of a locations and landmarks. As you slide the street level imagery sideways, the view of the sidewalk is seamlessly constructed including an overlay of business listings, street names and store fronts.

When you get to your destination, check-in with Bing and simultaneously update your Facebook, Foursquare and Windows Live Messenger status.

Looking to plan a last-minute meet-up or happy hour? The new “Plan” feature lets you share local search results directly to your Facebook Wall, and plan a night based on the “likes” and comments of your Facebook Motorcycle friends.

Now use the “Reminder” feature that lets you know when you’re close to a location. Set a reminder from the detail business listing page, type a custom message and Bing will remind you the next time you’re near the location.

Voice search, powered by Microsoft Tellme, is faster than before and allows you to fine-tune your existing search using your voice, without having to repeat the entire search. Tips and hints have also been added, providing helpful information on how best to use voice search to complete tasks.

“Bing Vision” lets you search using your phone’s camera. Bring an object into view and Bing will detect text and present a tool to select words for a search. If the object has a barcode, Bing will instantly return product results. Bing Vision can detect product information from UPC codes and cover art for books, CD, DVDs and video games.
