If your friend is not available, you can leave a video message. The time and date of your unanswered calls will be displayed in your message history with your friend. If you are having trouble making a Facebook video call make sure your webcam and microphone are running and try again.

You can see if a Facebook friend is available by typing their name at the bottom of the chat list on the right hand side of the Facebook page. Friends appearing in the online chat is also available for video calls. A green dot next to the name of a friend shows they are online, and an icon in the shape of a moon means that they are online but inactive. To end a Facebook video call, simply close the video window.

Bing has added a new feature this week so that now Facebook integrates with the search results produced on Bing Shopping. A social search is a social result that links a researcher to requests for your search through a social network. Through social search, the researcher sees only results that are determined by the interests of its friends in the network. Google and Bing are two companies that have changed their search results with its own version of social search over a year ago. Since then they have continued to feature prominently in the results of social search and mixed the social search results with their regular search results in both the search engines.

The answer is probably all the above, because the investigation is being redefined by these factors. Let’s embrace the idea that the social side of the search is effortless and occurs as a familiar user experience, whether it is on mobile, social or search as certainly these need to be combined.

As the investigation unfolds certainly there is something much larger than the results of social search that need to be strengthened. The average Facebook user does not say “I want to search the most popular stories among my Facebook friends.” No. Facebook is doing the work for them by developing a search experience highlighting socially relevant content. A social search engine that requires the user to reflect on the content of the social network is one that seems to lose the point.

The message to marketers, according to Duane, is to invest in rich snippets through your websites. Bing wants to know what your content is and the more detail you can give Bing, the better you can tag it and make it more useful for Bing to crawl. Content is king, according to Duane.

Stick to generating organic links within your content and use relevant anchor text. The most powerful links are the ones embedded in the content these are organic links that a user can click on while they are reviewing the content and be able to click on links that provide additional quality content.

Rob says search marketers will have to work on retaining their core SEO practices, such as creating great content and be more engaging with their content, including deeper research of their audience, providing the right information they are seeking.

With great content comes the need to provide great links. Rob says social networks will become more important in passing referrals and or sharing content. Bing has formed a relationship with Facebook. Bing is looking to social networks as a great signal when it comes to featuring quality content.

The role of social media continues to be discussed as a key factor in Egypt’s removal of longtime President Hosni Mubarak. Jeffrey Brown PBS News Hour reports.

Google Role in Social Media

Google executive Wael Ghonim and his Facebook page are credited for helping spark the Egyptian protests. Seth Doane CBS reports on a social media revolution brought on by social networking.

In an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” that aired on Sunday, Ghonim said the protests which led to Mubarak’s removal would not have happened without online social networks and social media.

“If there was no social networks it would have never been sparked,” he said.

“Because the whole thing before the revolution was the most critical thing. Without Facebook, without Twitter, without Google, without YouTube, this would have never happened.”

On Twitter, a cacaphony reported on events in Suez, Alexandria and the Egyptian capital in a dozen languages. On Facebook, protests were organised in every major city worldwide. A global public community emerged, exposing every lie and untruth of those leaders who refused to help the Egyptian people move towards popular democracy in Egypt.

Despite an internet shutdown by Mubarak, Al Jazeera and CNN’s live images on TV have been further magnified online via social media. The net is bursting with rumours, links to confirmed reports and eyewitness accounts.

Obviously this global roar of outrage wouldn’t have occurred without the public protest of millions of Egyptians. However, it has been the social media networks that have amplified the message from Cairo, and helped to make a quick massacre of protestors less likely. Even though Twitter and Facebook are controlled by large corporations, over the past few days they have provided a space in which there is a global exchange of short reports and views going on.

The international pressure campaign and online reaction helped Egyptians depose their despot, Social media may have been born and the supporters of Tunisians and Egyptians have shown they can use social media tools online to make politics amount to something.
