If multiple applications can connect through Apple Siri, it would help Apple gain greater visibility without having to worry about using Google web search at all. This can increase a company like Alpha Wolfram, who is trying to compete with the Google search box. It could also be useful for a company like Yelp, which has to compete with Google’s services to get noticed in the search results. It is probably no coincidence that the two have signed with Apple.

Apple Siri Reducing The Dependence On Google

It seems that Apple is using Apple Siri to reduce the dependence of the iPhone on Google, something that Apple is supposed to do with mapping at some point in time as well. And if Apple Siri can give a great user experience it may not only be a differentiating factor for IOS, but it could also help pull some traffic away from Google search. Google have added a weather layer on Google Maps that shows the temperature and current conditions around the world to make travel and planning activities a lot easier.

You can add a weather layer in Google Maps by simply hovering the mouse pointer over the widget in the top right corner of Google Maps and by selecting the weather layer from the long list of options. When you zoom out, you will see the weather map from weather.com for the different places on the Google Maps, with icons to indicate the sun, clouds, rain, etc. You can also see the cloud cover, thanks to the Google Maps partners in the U.S. Naval Research Lab. If you look closely, you can also tell if it is day or night all over the world by looking for the sun and moon represented by icons.

Google Maps Weather Conditions For Family And Friends

Activating the weather layer in Google Maps also gives you the instant weather conditions for friends and family who live in other parts of the world. Clicking on the climate or weather icon of a given city will open an information window with detailed information, such as humidity and wind conditions and forecasts for the next four days. You can also change the units of wind speed from Mph to KM/PH and temperature from Fahrenheit to Celsius, and enable or disable the clouds (when you are zoomed out) from the left panel in Google Maps.
