3D WebGL With Google Chrome

With the new version of the Google Chrome browser you can now leverage the benefits of WebGL. WebGl is a Web-based Graphics Language and it leverages the built in hardware acceleration of your graphics card.

This now brings new functionality to web interactions like never before as it allows it to generate interactive 3D graphics within any compatible web browser like Google Chrome, on a 3D computer graphics API without the use of plug-ins.

You may not find many sites featuring fully three dimensional content on the web today, but soon, you will. And it looks as though Google might be the first to bring access to such content to the masses. All of the big browser companies have been working to standardize and implement 3D technology into their software for the past year. The tech is called WebGL and it’s based on the OpenGL ES 2.0 API.

WebGL Now Implemented In Google Chrome and Many More Browsers

WebGL is implemented in Google Chrome and in development release of Mozilla Firefox 4 and Safari. In addition, WebGL is available in the PR1.2 firmware update for the Nokia N900.

Microsoft And Nokia Now Partners

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announce their partnership today during a press conference at the Nokia Strategy and Financial Briefing and their vision is to further enhance and strengthen the Microsoft Windows Phone.

The message from both CEO’s in the video below is “Today, the battle is moving from one of mobile devices to one of mobile ecosystems, and our strengths here are complementary. Ecosystems thrive when they reach scale, when they are fueled by energy and innovation and when they provide benefits and value to each person or company who participates. This is what we are creating; this is our vision; this is the work we are driving from this day forward.”

A New Microsoft Nokia Windows 7 Phone Likely

Rumors of a Nokia and Microsoft Windows Phone 7 partnership were rife since Elop’s departure from Microsoft to Nokia in September, 2010. All eyes are now on Mobile World Congress to see if they release the new Microsoft Nokia Windows 7 Phone. Nokia is planning to hold a press event on Sunday and it’s likely that the firm will unveil its Windows Phone 7 device to the local community attending.
