Often when using public transport you arrive at your stop in time to check your watch and look down the street just to find out that your bus is late again. These minutes seem like an eternity, and the only information you can access on your phone is when the bus was supposed to be coming. Google Maps is now starting to receive live transport updates to make life easier.
Traffic Providers Sending Live Information To Google Maps
From now on Google Maps for mobile and Google Maps for desktop can tell you when your transport is actually going to arrive with new updates directly through local traffic providers. Google Maps has worked with transit agencies to integrate live local traffic data in four U.S. cities and two European cities: Boston, Portland, Oregon, San Diego, San Francisco, Madrid and Turin to supply updated local traffic information directly into Google Maps.
Clicking on a transit station or planning a transport route with Google Maps there always seems to be delays or alerts related to your trip. Now you can see live departure times indicated by a special icon and also receive maintenance or service alerts directly in Google Maps that may affect the trip you are planning to take.
